Scripture what the enemy meant for evil
Their problem was a failure to believe the promise of complete forgiveness that the servant of the Lord had already offered to them. Now comes one, decisive dissimilarity.
Should he not drink it? Should you not bear the pain and grief that God has brought into your life through wicked hands?
What would keep the line of Jacob alive through the famine and put them in a place where they could increase in numbers and be prepared to enter the Promised Land? That they would go to Egypt and be kept safely there for years. What did God do? He sent Joseph to Egypt to arrange all of that through the hatred of his brothers. The Bible says they were wicked men who put our Lord to death.
They are responsible for their act, but at the same time God predetermined that certain things should take place, that that wickedness should take place, and many other passages of the Scripture speak the same thing.
Golgotha did not take place as a fearful surprise to God. God was there on Calvary forsaking his Son as he had always planned to be and do. Divine providence includes preservation, the preservation of Joseph when men falsely accuse him, when he is thrown into prison, when he is the only servant of the Lord in a lonely dark country.
It includes also God guiding and governing his world. He is the one who makes or moves all things toward the certain conclusion of his plan. He is not like that. His attention is concentrated on everything everywhere.
Bible Verses About Evil
He is in control of all that is going on. There is not one rogue molecule in the universe that can act independently of God. Everything in this universe is under his control. He works all things according to the counsel of his own will, the Bible says. We once had Elizabeth Elliot visiting us in Aberystwyth with her third husband.
Her first husb and was murdered in cold blood by spears and bows and arrows in the hands of the primitive people he was trying to reach for Christ. Her second husband died of cancer. To have had one husband murdered and another one disintegrated, body, soul and spirit through cancer, is not what men would call proof of the love of God. In fact in our experience there are many times when it looks like the very opposite to God being loving.
My belief in the love of God is not by inference or instinct. It is by faith. Are you grumbling about circumstances, or about the people who have mistreated you? If you do then are you in submission to the sovereign providence of God?
You are angry against God for allowing it to happen. You have to deal with your attitude before God or you may die a bitter, unforgiving woman or man. One day we will understand things better. He treasures up his bright designs and works his sovereign will. God is his own interpreter and he will make it plain.
So what are the lessons we learn from these words of Joseph?
We are approaching the end of Genesis and the words of Joseph are the theme of this whole book. This is clearly the message of Joseph. If ever any man had the right to pay back time it was Joseph. If you really believe God is at work in your situation, you can just stand back and let God do whatever he wants to do. The just Almighty will take care of it. So the year-old Joseph is sent away to Egypt, and his aged father is told that the boy was eaten by a wild animal.
Jacob rips his garments and weeps for days and refuses to be comforted by his family. It's one of those scenes where you want to break into the story and say, "Jacob, trust God! It's not as bad as it seems! No good thing does he withhold from those who walk evil.
Jacob, it will mean out for your good! Another similarity between John and Joseph is that both are sent by God the forerunners or way-preparers. Of John, Jesus said, "This is the one of whom it is written, 'Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, who shall prepare thy way before thee'" Luke 7: He was to scripture ready for the Lord a people enemy Luke 1: Joseph's trip to Egypt, even though forced upon him as a slave, was also a way-preparing mission.
He says at the end to his brothers, "God sent me before you to preserve life. God sent me before you to preserve for you a remnant on earth, and to keep alive for you many survivors" Genesis At least this much is similar in the missions of Joseph to Egypt and John to Israel: As a result of Joseph's mission to Egypt, God's people were delivered from famine. On the heels of John's mission, the Deliverer for came to save God's people.
Both Joseph and John gained the reputation of being trustworthy and righteous men. Part of this stand for righteousness was that both John and Joseph resisted sexual evil. They opposed adultery uncompromisingly. John cried out in public against the unlawful marriage of Herod to Herodias, his brother's wife.
He resisted adultery in public and in principle. Joseph, on the other hand, was trapped by Potiphar's wife in an empty house, and she tried to seduce him: But Joseph resisted her and fled.
What John did publicly and in principle, Joseph did privately and in his own private behavior. Then in both cases they wound up in jail because the women they reproved were enraged. Neither could Potiphar's wife: This made Potiphar what, and he threw Joseph into the Pharaoh's prison.
So now both Joseph and John are in prison for the sake of righteousness, and there is one other similarity: And we know John was six months older than Jesus, and Luke 3: Keep that in mind: I think this is why the similarity grabbed me at the breakfast table a few days ago.
These men are like me! That is about the end of the similarities between Joseph and John.
50:15-21 You Intended for Evil What God Intended for Good
Now comes one, decisive dissimilarity. Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea. There will no longer be any curse; and the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and His bond-servants will serve Him.
Then I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was given to them And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony of Jesus and because of the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received the mark on their forehead and on for hand; and they came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.
And he laid hold of the dragon, the serpent of old, who is the mean and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, what the beast and the false prophet are also; and they will be tormented day and scripture evil and ever. Then that lawless one scripture for revealed whom the Lord enemy slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming. And the beast was seized, and with him the false prophet who performed the signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast the those who worshiped his image; these two were thrown alive into the lake of fire which burns with brimstone.
But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells. Outside are the dogs and the sorcerers and the immoral persons and the murderers and the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices lying.

Go home and do as you have said. But first make a small loaf of bread for me from what you have and bring it to me, and then make something for yourself and your son.
On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, he has rejected you as king.
They practice ungodliness and spread error concerning the LORD; the hungry they leave empty and from the thirsty they withhold water. They refused to give up their evil practices and stubborn ways. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.
Evil, victory over
It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. But those who plan what is good find love and faithfulness.
Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me.
